Spells (32)
Lightning Bolt

Lava Spike
Rift Bolt
Flame Rift
Searing Blaze
Price of Progress

Wooded Foothills

TCGPlayer.com Price: $311

Some easy swaps to make if you don’t have that kind of cash either:

-4 Goblin Guide
+4 Monastery Swiftspear

-4 Bloodstained Mire
-4 Wooded Foothills
-3 Searing Blaze
+8 Mountain
+3 Searing Blood

You may have noticed that I didn’t provide a sideboard – Burn has a bit of flexibility with its sideboarding and should be tuned for the expected metagame. Here are some example sideboard cards:

  • Red Elemental Blast/Pyroblast
  • Mindbreak Trap
  • Smash to Smithereens
  • Relic of Progenitus
  • Grim Lavamancer
  • Satyr Firedancer
  • Vexing Shusher
  • Ashen Rider
  • Ensnaring Bridge
  • Surgical Extraction
  • Pyrostatic Pillar
  • Sulfuric Vortex
  • Pithing Needle
  • Forked Bolt
  • Sulfur Elemental

Lastly, here’s a small guide on how to play Burn against counters by the one and only @BasicMountain, Patrick Sullivan: Burn vs Counters

Don’t want to play Burn? Check out Manaless Dredge:

Manaless Dredge

Creatures (42)
Balustrade Spy
Blightsteel Colossus
Flayer of the Hatebound
Golgari Grave-Troll
Golgari Thug
Ichorid
Narcomoeba
Nether Shadow
Phantasmagorian
Shambling Shell
Stinkweed Imp
Street Wraith

Spells (18)
Bridge from Below
Cabal Therapy
Dread Return
Gitaxian Probe
Mishra’s Bauble
Sideboard (15)
Chancellor of the Annex
Contagion
Mindbreak Trap
Sickening Shoal

At around $250, it certainly attacks at a different angle compared to the rest of the format. You always want to be on the draw, and the deck can grind out the grindest of decks due to its consistency.

Another budget contender is Oops All Spells. This version just 3-1’d a Daily Event on Magic Online and clocks in at roughly $250:

Oops! All Spells

Creatures (27)
Balustrade Spy
Elvish Spirit Guide
Laboratory Maniac
Narcomoeba
Simian Spirit Guide
Street Wraith
Undercity Informer
Underworld Cerberus
Wild Cantor

Spells (33)
Cabal Therapy
Dread Return
Gitaxian Probe
Cabal Ritual
Dark Ritual
Manamorphose
Pact of Negation
Chrome Mox
Lotus Petal
Bridge from Below
Sideboard (15)
Bridge from Below
Dread Return
Empty the Warrens
Flame-Kin Zealot
Ingot Chewer
Nature’s Claim

If you’re unfamiliar with Oops All Spells or at least this version of the combo, this is how it works:

  • Step 1: Mulligan into a hand with Undercity Informer or Balustrade Spy.
  • Step 2: Ramp up into four mana as soon as possible and cast one of the above cards and target yourself with their ability.
  • Step 3: Put your entire library into your graveyard, triggering all Narcomoebas and putting them into play.
  • Step 4: Sacrifice three Narcomoebas to Dread Return Underworld Cerberus.
  • Step 5: Sacrifice Underworld Cerberus to Cabal Therapy to return all of your creatures from your graveyard to your hand.
  • Step 6: Exile your Spirit Guides, cast Wild Cantor and make a blue mana, then hardcast Laboratory Maniac.
  • Step 7: Cycle a Street Wraith to win the game.

With 4 Pact of Negation and 4 Cabal Therapy, you aren’t completely dead to Force of Will, which is unlike many turn one combo decks in Legacy.
