So it’s finally come down to this. After nine grueling events, the Championships is finally upon us this Saturday at Desert Sky Games! We are very excited for this moment so there have been a lot of announcements lately to spice the event up. To make sure that all of the announcements are heard, I’ve decided to compile it all into this quick little article – we hope to see you all there!
First off, the basic details:
- Date: September 6th, 2014
- Location: Desert Sky Games, 2531 S Gilbert Rd Ste 106, Gilbert, Arizona
- Time: 12:00pm – please arrive early to register and fill out decklists!
- Entry Fee: $30 ($15 if you have 10+ Legacy Series Points)
- Prizes: 1st Place – Choice of 4 Wasteland or 4 Force of Will, 2 byes to GP: New Jersey, AZMagicPlayers.com 2014 Legacy Series Trophy, 2nd Place – Remaining playset
Yes, the event is open to everyone!
There were some questions that the event was only going to be invite only. The answer is no – anybody can enter the event! However, we are rewarding those who have grinded the Legacy Series over the past 9 months by giving those with 10 or more Legacy Series points a discount. So whether you’ve played eight events, one event, or have never played Legacy before, you will have a chance at becoming the AZMagicPlayers.com 2014 Legacy Series Champion!
GPT: New Jersey
The AZMagicPlayers.com 2014 Legacy Series Championship will also be a Grand Prix Trial for GP: New Jersey. This means if you win, you will get 2 byes to that Grand Prix! There will also be a Planeswalker Point multiplier too (I believe it’s 3x) so you can grind out byes that way.
This also means that the event will be run at Competitive REL & decklists will be required (as usual), but also make sure to fill out those decklists correctly!
Store credit to top finishers
We have been talking about the 1st and 2nd Place Prizes, but don’t forget that store credit will still be given out to top finishers!
Player of the Year Race – Bonus Points
The points earned here will also be doubled from the normal events. Anybody who manages to cross the 10 point threshold will receive a discount on any t-shirt or playmat purchases from us until December 31, 2014!
39 or fewer players:
- 1st Place: 20 Series Points
- 2nd Place: 16 Series Points
- 3rd & 4th Place: 12 Series Points
- 5th to 8th Place: 8 Series Points
- 9th+ Place: 2 Series Points
40 or more players:
- 1st Place: 20 Series Points
- 2nd Place: 16 Series Points
- 3rd & 4th Place: 12 Series Points
- 5th to 8th Place: 8 Series Points
- 9th to 16th Place: 4 Series Points
- 17th+ Place: 2 Series Points
